A maior plataforma do mundo de ensaios estruturais sísmicos

Chama-se E-Defense e é um dos mais avançados laboratórios de análise dinâmica de estruturas e ensaios sísmicos do Japão. Localizado nos arredores da cidade de Miki, é parte integrante do complexo NIED (“National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience”) e possui a maior plataforma do mundo de ensaios estruturais sísmicos. Este equipamento de testes está dotado de uma área de montagem de 20 metros de comprimento e 15 metros de largura, sendo dirigido ao ensaio, à escala real, de edifícios e outras estruturas com peso de até 1200 toneladas.

A empresa projetista norte-americana Kohn Pedersen Fox anunciou a conclusão oficial da construção da Lotte World Tower. O gigante de 555 metros de altura é agora o quinto edifício mais alto do mundo, destronando o One World Trade Center do Top 5 de mega-arranha-céus. Foi igualmente reconhecido, pelo Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), como o mais alto edifício da Coreia do Sul, ultrapassando em 250 metros o anterior recordista.
